Connecticut
Leg 22 in 2022 took us on our first trip to the Constitution State. It’s beautiful! And what will forever stick in my mind for Connecticut is sail boats. Makes us want to learn to sail!
As we do on most legs, we spent our weeks working and the weekends checking out the area’s restaurants, grocers, and doing touristy stuff.
Our rental for the leg was a quaint remodeled home off a main street just down from the Mohegan Sun Casino.
Its spa shower is one of my favorite to date, and I love the art!
Went spent 4 weeks in Norwich exploring the southern area of the state and bouncing over to Rhode Island a time or two. We even had time to do a lighthouse cruise- very fun! We might’ve taken some vacation days to explore more, but the summer heat was off the charts!
THE LOCAL GRUB

Lobster Roll
Found this delight on our stop at the Lobster Shack in East Haven. Unlike New England’s classic lobster roll, which is made with mayonnaise and served cold, a Connecticut Lobster roll is served warm with just melted butter - perfect for people with egg allergies.
We drove by On the Waterfront in New London on our first afternoon exploring in Connecticut. It’s bougier than we expected, but the cuisine is good, and if you get a good table, it has views of the Thames River.
Cod Mediterranean
Phenomenal! There’s a reason Pizzarama Drive-In - also of New London - has been around for over half a century. I’d go out of our way to get another!
