Avery Point Lighthouse
Avery Point Lighthouse - Groton CT
Completed in 1943, active 1944-1967, and on the National Register of Historic Places; the Avery Point Lighthouse was the last lighthouse built in the state of Connecticut.
The 41 foot octagonal tower now belongs to the University of Connecticut and sits east of mouth of the Thames.
Scenic spot along the water on the UConn campus. Visited on a Sunday morning and there wasn’t another soul in site.
Beautiful wide open space between the bay and the Branford House.
You can’t tour the tower, but we did peak in its windows.
