Greater Olympia

I’m not sure we can say we take “vacations” at this point, but I can say we needed a break from work.

Wanting to check out Olympia and see what the city and surrounding area were like, we booked a short few days to see what it had to offer.

Our pad for the leg was a cozy over-the-garage rental on Eld inlet. With immediate access to the shore and equipment provide by our hosts, we were able to play around in the water a bit.

We had four days on the schedule for the greater Olympia area. We filled the time exploring a little bit of the city, hiking in Olympia National Forest and enjoying the surrounding inlets.

We live for places like this one. The Ship Wreck Café in Olympia is low key with a wide selection to choose from. Food is great. Service is excellent. Couldn’t have asked for more.

Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs

After goofing off on a 5 mile hike in Olympic National Forest, we dropped in at Nina’s Lake Cushman Cafe for lunch. Lee’s trusty go to meal.

A little disappointing, The Sea Glass Grill at the Westport Winery Garden Resort did not live up to the expectation. The cocktails and appetizer were the highlight of our meal.
