Squaxin Park

Squaxin Park Garden - Olympia WA

Previously Priest Point Park, the 314 acre park with hiking trails and almost 2 miles of shoreline, was renamed to Squaxin Park in April 2022. The new name recognizes the Squaxin Island Tribe, who - with a host of other tribes - has occupied South Puget Sound for thousands of years. The park straddles both sides of East Bay Drive and has a dedicated playground to the west and a charming rose garden on the east.

Stopped here for a walk about the park while we sipped mid-morning coffee. It’s a unique park with quite a few trails to explore. Took a path to the water and found the park has a beach - and pollution advisory signs for water and soil pollution.

The well groomed garden was a surprise. It came complete with a variety of roses, fountains, and statuary. Wooden swings nestled just beyond the garden are unique and we daydreamed on how to build one for ourselves in the future. Overall, this was a nice park to spend a few hours.
