Coupeville

Penn Cove - Coupeville WA

A charming town that reminds me of a rustic seaside village, Coupeville is the quintessential “escape from the city” relaxation destination. The walkable main street is lined with quaint shops and coffee houses, and the historic wharf comes complete with a complete Grey Whale skeleton adorning the ceiling.

We spent several hours poking about Coupeville. We popped into a few shops on Front Street, grabbed a local beer at Toby’s Tavern, and snacked pastries from the coffee shop at the Coupeville Wharf. It was the perfect lazy afternoon.

With its proximity to state parks, the San Juan Islands, and the city of Seattle, Coupeville seems like a good location for a future “base camp.”
