Cedar Creek Canoe Trail

Cedar Creek - Congaree National Park SC

Passing through old-growth forest that contains some of the tallest trees in the eastern United States, Cedar Creek Canoe Trail weaves through the backcountry of Congaree National Park for an estimated 15 miles before meeting the Congaree River. Visitors to the park can bring their own paddle craft to experience the park’s wilderness from the water, or take a guided tour with an authorized Columbia outfitter.

Wanting to explore Congaree National Park to the fullest, we had our eye on paddling Cedar Creek Canoe Trail. But since the river was at flood stage and we’re still relatively new to the kayaking-in-the-wild game, we opted to take a guided tour with Columbia Outdoor Adventures. Phenomenal!

We had a friendly spot-on team leading us at a relaxed pace through the Congaree Wilderness sharing the history and ecology of the park.

Billy, our lead guide, was entertaining and patient. Constantly vigilant watching over the group, he didn’t miss a beat in spotting a couple of snakes to share.

And Kat and Julie were personable and equally passionate about flora and and fauna of the floodplain forest.

Fantastic team team with a wealth of knowledge to share. Great way to experience Congaree National Park.
