Cold Hollow Cider Mill

Cold Hollow Cider Mill - Waterbury Center VT

Located between Waterbury and Stowe, Cold Hollow Cider Mill is the largest producer of fresh apple cider in the northeast. Visitors can view the pressing room and witness the 1920’s rack-and-cloth apple press that makes the magic possible, plus get a little taste of the millions of gallons of fresh pressed cider per year.

On the hunt for cool things to do in Vermont, we stopped at the rest top at the state line and found a Cold Hollow Cider Mill brochure. We were not prepared for the parking insanity.

We stopped here twice throughout our stay and both times the line to the pressing/tasting room was long but moved quick. We didn’t catch the press in action either day.

It’s hard to say what’s more popular, the fresh pressed cider or the hot-on-the-spot cider donuts Cold Hollow frantically kicks out for tourists.

Both are so good it’s ridiculous, but the donuts are best eaten on site. We took a few to go and they weren’t as good the following day.

For visitors looking for more than just donuts, the Mill has a charming charming eatery on site offering breakfast and lunch options. The Apple Core Luncheonette & Brew also offers local beers and wines as well as hard cider flights.
