Boston RV & Camping Expo

Boston RV Show - Boston MA

Located in the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, New England’s largest annual camping expo features the latest models of recreational vehicles including motorhomes, fifth wheels, travel trailers, and pop-ups. Even camper vans.

The expo is marketed as “the most efficient means to compare several RV models at one time and in one place with manufacturers and dealers to help you make a buying decision for the upcoming season.”

We were striking out on being able to compare RVs at local dealers, so we headed to the Boston RV show. We were able to walk a number of options. Class As have caught out eye and the small presence of Class Cs has always been appealing.

What we didn’t expect to be missing was a wider selection of fifth wheels. Since expo space is limited, dealers only bring select models and larger fifth wheels were scarce. But the show had a number of pull behinds and “more money than we wanna spend” selections for us to gawk at.

Getting antsy about the RV hunting process, we felt like we should make a decision and started paperwork on a possible purchase. However, key to our decision was being able to physically sit in one last option we were considering.

The dealer found a Momentum 397 over an hour a way in Merrimack, NH. We left the RV show immediately to check it out. Only to be more frustrated on arrival. The dealer knew we were coming, but the rig was parked too close to another and they couldn’t get the stairs down, much less open the slides.

On our second trip to Merrimack the following morning, we were finally able to get in the 397. It was the luckiest frustration we’ve suffered in our RV hunt. We determined the tv space felt too cramped for us. We were able to cross 397 off the list.

Our preliminary paperwork was also a bust. We thought we’d get a better deal at an RV show which definitely was not the case. The hunt continues...
