Mica View to Cactus Forest to Javelina Wash Loop

Saguaro National Park East

MAY 2021

1.9 miles - 66ft elev gain - easy

This is a great trail to experience a tiny piece of Saguaro National Park. We accessed the trail from the Mica View Picnic area within the Park, but it can easily be accessed via the Broadway Trailhead on E Broadway Blvd - fees will still apply.

Overall, an easy hike as the trail is relatively flat. Challenges would be heat, elements, and wildlife. All we witnessed on our early May hike were birds and bugs. It was also at the end of the driest 12 months in Tucson history - just before monsoon season. So, the wash was lose and sandy.

We hiked several places while we were in Tucson. SNP had the best collection of southwestern cactus in the area. Great trail to experience their beauty!

happy hiking!
