Astrophotography: Mt. Lemmon

Learning Astrophotography - Mt Lemmon AZ

astrophotography: photography involving astronomical objects and events

Sometimes we just try stuff to see if we like it. Lee’s interest in night sky photography (astrophotography) was sparked with the passing of the NEOWISE comet in July 2020. Discovering then that cameras could pick up more light than the human eye, he endeavored to learn more about it after we began road-tripping. Mt Lemmon Scenic Byway got us up out of Tucson, and the overlooks allowed him to mess around with camera settings. Not the perfect spot since the city has a lot of light noise, but as good a starting place as any. Even messed around trying to get shots of the city.

People interested in true Stargazing on Mt Lemmon can check out the Mt. Lemmon SkyCenter. The observatory offers stargazing tickets and “a rare opportunity to view the universe in a way that most of humanity will never experience.” An experience we missed, but is at the top of the list on our next trip to Tucson.
