Greater Nashville
The end of November took us into Leg 12 and to the great city of Nashville. I was ecstatic to be back in a big city. We’ve been to Tennessee numerous times over the years but strictly east Tennessee. This was our first trip to the country music capitol of the world and it did not disappoint. Autumn was in full swing, the holidays were just around the corner, and we found plenty to keep us entertained.
Two of our favorite people – Stan & Cathy – put us up for the duration. Recently relocated and just settling into a new home after their own RVing adventure, we were blessed to be able to spend time with them and their two fur babies, Penny and Hallie. A nice treat after abstaining through the pandemic.
We spent 3 weeks in Greater Nashville and spent a lot of time eating delicious homecooked meals. And in spite of our brand new Chrysler Pacifica troubles, we still found time for the city, roamed a presidential estate, made it a point to try a broad range of Tennessee whiskeys, and had time to get festive with Christmas at Gaylord Opryland.
THE LOCAL GRUB
Famous Feast
Trying out the local BBQ. Picked up a Famous Feast to-go from Famous Dave’s BBQ on Old Hickory Blvd in Hermitage TN. Respectable. Kit comes complete with Rich & Sassy BBQ Sause and Devil’s Spit!
Nadeen’s Hermitage Haven in Hermitage has excellent reviews, so we dipped in early one morning to try the fare. Good food, good service, good prices. two thumbs up.
Diner Breakfast
Before this encounter I had never heard of Sweet Potato Tots. Now I have a new favorite side dish. The BStone Bus - outside Blackstone Brewing - is a great compliment to beer tastings.
Philly Cheesesteak
