Garfield Peak Trail

Crater Lake National Park

JUL 2021

3.6 mile out & back- 1089 elev gain - moderate

Thousand+ foot climb to the top of Garfield Peak yields the spectacular reward of overlooking Crater Lake and Wizard Island!

Steady incline from the trailhead to the summit.

Scenery of the lake for the majority of the climb with views of some of the bluest water you’ll ever see along the way.

Benches have been placed sporadically along the trail for those needing a break or those wanting to take in the views.

Trailhead is located on the south east side of Crater Lake Lodge. Parking for the trailhead is actually Rim Village Parking.

Started around sunrise at 5:30 and had the tail to ourselves until we left the summit around 7. Passed 6 hikers round trip. Early start time gave us shade all the way to the top. Looking forward to a future sunset hike to experience the difference.

Tips:

  • Altitude can be a challenge of you’re unaccustomed to it. Know the symptoms of altitude sickness, and know your limits.

  • Stay hydrated
