Sodus Bay Lighthouse
Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum - Sodus Point NY
On the cliffs of Sodus Bay at the edge of Lake Ontario sits Sodus Bay Lighthouse. Built in 1870, the current structure replaces the original lighthouse of the mid-1820s. The site is picturesque with well-manicured grounds that serve as the perfect backdrop for weddings and is the most visited site in Wayne Co, New York.
History of the site reaches back much further, but history of the lighthouse began in 1824. The preserved structure, accompanying museum, and surrounding gardens are open late May through late October, with a Summer Concert Series early July through Labor Day.
Gorgeous location with a pretty view!
Lighthouse enthusiasts wont want to miss this one.
Parking at the lighthouse is sparse, and a wedding the day of our visit had street parking full. Lee dropped me and drove around the block repeatedly while I did a quick walk about the property. It was hard not to feel like an intruder to the wedding even from a distance.
May return to tour the museum one day.
