Mount Washington Cog Railway

Mount Washington Cog Railway - White Mountains NH

Opening is 1869, Mount Washington Cog Railway has carried guests to its namesake summit for over 150 years.

The peak ticks in at a modest 6,288-feet, but its location in the Presidential Range brings together the perfect combination of factors, including rain, wind, and ice, making weather at the summit some of the worst in the world.

Summer Railway trips carry passengers on a 3-mile climb to the top where on a clear day panoramic views span the north end of the Appalachian Chain.

In winter months, trips up Mount Washington end 2000-feet shy of the summit at Waumbek Station. Hot beverages and warming huts await guests willing to brave the chilly season for epic views!
