Kymulga Grist Mill & Covered Bridge

Kymulga Grist Mill - Alpine AL

Located in Talladega County, AL, construction on the Kymulga Grist Mill began in 1859. The original equipment - installed as the Mill was constructed - is still operational and capable of grinding grits, meal, flour, and chicken feed.

Visitors can tour the mill via self-guided tour with the provided pamphlet and numbered stations that span two floors.

Built circa 1860 and restored in 1974, the Kymulga Covered Bridge still stands in its original location along the Old Georgia Road that was once a trading path for Native Americans.

What a nugget!

Such a great unexpected road-side stop. We actually had plans to visit Majestic Caverns, those plans got derailed with the time we took at Kymulga Grist Mill.

Nothing flashy, just great history in a natural & peaceful setting.

It was a gloomy day and we were the only visitors. The mill keeper took the time to give us a private tour and shared his passion and wealth of information regarding the mill.

Must see for covered bridge fanatics and Grist Mill enthusiasts!
