Sands Key

Sands Key - Biscayne National Park FL

A tiny barrier island between the calm waters of Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, and nestled between Boca Chita Key to the south and Elliot Key to the north, Sands Key is a tiny island on the upper end of Biscayne National Park.

Our kayak trip to Sands Key was part of a Sail, Paddle, Snorkel and Island Visit tour we booked with Biscayne National Park Institute on our visit to Biscayne National Park.

The tour sailed us through the bay and anchored at the island. They also provided our inflatable kayak - so getting there was easy.

Our guide shared details of the plants and marine life in the area while we paddled around the mangroves. She pointed out little lobsters and handed us a tiny jellyfish.

Afterward, we snorkeled Sands Key and explored life underneath the surface.
