7.5 mile loop - 13 ft elev gain - moderate
Great place for a morning hike. And a terrific way to hang out with a friend! The path is wide and partially shaded. Some sections seem sandy but are still stable. A couple of benches and a picnic table or two can be found along the way. We had the trail to ourselves until the very end.
The moderate classification would be for distance - not dynamics. There’s nothing technical that makes this trail difficult. Firm flat trail that’s actually a dirt road until you get to the east side of the loop where you’ll find a little ungraded/uneven turf. But it’s Florida, so it’s still fairly flat. One could easily do this trail in sneakers.
No observation towers on our route but a few viewing blinds. Plenty of hog wallows. It was a balmy 42° the day we went and we didn’t see a single gator.
An enjoyable way to spend the morning.
happy hikng!
