Eastern Alabama
It’s March 2023! It’s been over a year since we’ve seen our kids! After missing the 2022 holiday season with family so we cold experience a northeast winter, we’re back and ready to do some hug swapping.
We had a short 3 weeks set for Leg 30. We camped with the kids, took a mid-week break from work and went for a bike ride at Calloway Gardens, and prepped for the return to Texas to tidy up some of our stuff.
Site Revamp
After 19 months of stumbling through using our web design platform, I was fed up with feeling frustrated with the platform’s dated color combos and page layouts.
In January of 2023, I decided to switch it up and create my own graphics and layouts - and start the conversion for clean consistency throughout the site.
I had previously shelved this idea because of the incredible amount work involved in converting old material. Three months in and I’m still churning out new page creations, but I think I like it!
THE LOCAL GRUB
Chopped Pork Plate w BBQ slaw
We were super busy, so the Local Grub suffered a little this leg. We only dined out twice, and stop two required admission to Calloway Gardens. Always on the hunt for new BBQ joints, we made a point to stop by the Smokey Pig Barbecue in Phenix City and try their pork. The flavor was on point, the gobs of fat in every other bite were not. Can’t say we’ll return.
scenes from the leg!
