Greater Atlanta
Leg 15 brought us home to the Peach State. We were born here. Raised here. Married here. And it’s where we had our boys. Plus, we have great friends in the state who made the trip home even sweeter! A lot has changed around Atlanta in the few short years we’ve been away. What hasn’t changed is Lee’s favorite thing - the traffic. It’s still nuts.
We were lucky enough not to have a rental this leg.We spent the month bouncing from one friend to another.
Thanks to each of them for putting up with us! You’re all saints!
Being back in Atlanta allowed us to hang out with our boys and gave me time to spend a couple “touristy” days with close friends. We were constantly on the go. Time at a quaint coffee shop in Monroe was equally delightful as hiking part of the Appalachian Trail. And, it’s been several years since we’ve visited Zoo ATL or the Georgia Aquarium, and it was nice to discover both facilities have used funds to expand for the betterment of their creatures.
THE LOCAL GRUB
Tasting Flight
Revival Hall Tap Room in Jefferson, GA was enjoyable. Cool place. Great vibe. Live Music. They also entertain with Comedy Shows and Trivia Nights. Pretty decent tap selection to choose from for a flight of 4. Loved it. Looking forward to dropping in next time we’re around.
Grilled Reuben
The Troll Tavern - located in the German themed town of Helen - sits on the bank Chattahoochee River. Great patio. Great shade. Fabulous spot to watch tubers float by in warmer weather.
Fact: We’re still 2 yrs old on the inside. And with a name like Butt Hutt - I got the giggles and we had to pop in and try this one. Located in south Athens.
