Valley Forge
Valley Forge - Valley Forge PA
The historic six month winter encampment of the Continental Army, Valley Forge, now the focus of Valley Forge National Historical Park, encompasses 3,500 acres of meadows and woodlands.
Log hut reproductions, monuments, and markers pepper the countryside on the Park’s self-guided driving Encampment Tour. Stops along the route include Muhlenberg’s Brigade, George Washington’s Headquarters, and Artillery Park.
Great piece of American history.
We stopped at the visitor center and found a wealth of information - one of the best visitors centers we’ve seen. Exhibits include details on American Revolutions, the practice of medicine, and many cases of various weapons. It cannot be missed!
It was a rainy day and we chose the auto audio tour to experience Valley Forge for the first time. In the Visitor Center, there are options to purchase an audio CD, a downloadable MP3 file, or stream. We chose to stream and this was a mistake due to poor cell service. And we didn’t realize until we were already on the one-way loop.
Still great to see, just wish we’d had the narration.
