Coquille River Lighthouse
Coquille River Lighthouse - Coos Co OR
At the south end of 4.5 mile long Bullard’s Beach sits the Coquille River Lighthouse. The last of the remaining government lighthouses to be built in Oregon, the Coquille Light was originally constructed in 1896 and was used to guide boats safely into the Coquille River as well as guide mariners at sea.
Coquille River Lighthouse is one of the smaller lighthouses we’ve seen but still interesting in its own right. It’s said its octagonal shape makes it unique among the lighthouses of the West Coast.
The interior was closed the day of our visit, but typically it’s open for visitors during the summer months. Don’t forget to take an exhilarating stroll down the north jetty to feel the power of the sea!
