Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial
Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial - Washington D.C.
Thoughtfully designed with a direct line of sight between the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial is situated on a 4-acre site on the northwest shore of Washington D.C.’s Tidal Basin.
The focal point of the memorial centers on the 30-foot granite Stone of Hope - a figure of MLK carved from granite and named from a famous quote from Dr. King’s “I have a Dream” speech.
Flanking the Stone of Hope is a 450-foot-long Inscription Wall. Here, 14 quotes from writings, sermons, and speeches of the Civil Rights activist are memorialized for generations to come.
