Inferno Cone Viewpoint

Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve

.56 mile out & back - 148’ elev gain - moderate

JUN 2021

Inferno Cone Viewpoint is super short, moderately challenging, and is one of the top things to do in Craters of the Moon National Monument. The trail up the cone isn’t paved and is simply marked by a worn path over the natural igneous rock covering the cone. Rewarding 360° views of the volcanic landscape greet climbers at the summit.

We hiked early evening and had spectacular views of the Sawtooth Range; and a birds eye view of old lava flows that create the park. Hold on to your hats! It’s windy up there!

happy hikng!
