8.6 mile out & back- 1870 foot elev gain - moderate
Great section of the Appalachian Trail! Beautifully clear and crisp day. Early March - still no leaves on the trees. Amazing vistas peaking through the trees throughout.
Little bit of ice on the trail in sections, but well traveled and plenty of people doing it in sneakers. As with all Appalachian trail sections, rocky and rooty.
Privy was full and at Icewater Spring Shelter. Only facilities were at Newfound Gap Trailhead.
happy hikng!
