Georgia Piedmont

Ahhhh, Leg 33. Short. Hectic. And it’s when we learned to pull our Momentum 395MS.

We had a whole 4 days this leg, and we’ll forever remember it as the gauntlet of moves. Because of RV driving lessons, we disconnected and moved Mo every day. For sanity’s sake, we cannot recommend this it. We should have given ourselves a break between arrival and lessons and then lessons and departure. But - we’re ok. Mo’s ok. Inky did great. And no one died.

As a couple of newbs, we couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.

Our first official RV site was located in Fort Yargo State Park! Site #28 was an easy pull through with length-space for days and a wooded view on door side. Amazing site in a pretty park. We wished we’d actually had time to enjoy it. Next time!

Harvest Host Shields-Ethridge Heritage Farm put us up for a night on our way to our next leg. Our host, Mr. Darryl, was amazing and took time to share the location’s history. Days of rain bogged down the normal overnight spot, so we were shifted to an atypical sight on the property. Neat to look out the window and see donkeys!

RV Lessons

At some point over the past 6 months, we decided before venturing too far it would be wise to get RV driving lessons; not only for our safety, but others.

We booked two-day lessons with Shane Hendricks at Damascus Road RV Services in the Athens, GA area. Shane came to us at Fort Yargo and over the two-day course went through the ins & outs of turning safely, backing in, setting up, and safety checks.

Day 2 was miserably wet and cold, but we all stuck with it ‘til the end!
