World War I Memorial
World War I Memorial - Washington DC
Honoring the lives of millions of Americans who served and died in the Great War, the World War I Memorial is located on Pennsylvania Avenue between the White House and the United States Capitol Building. The memorial includes benches, a Peace Fountain, engraved quotes, and detailed depictions of American campaigns.
The main feature of the memorial “A Soldiers Journey,” is slated for completion in 2024. When complete, the 58-foot-long panel will depict a series of scenes in an American soldier’s life and represent the larger American experience of World War I.
Every evening at 5pm, a bugler in World War I uniform plays “Taps” in honor of Americans who served in all wars.
