Marble, granite, and limestone create the impressive open-air structure. And the 19-foot bronze statue of the 3rd president of the United States stands in the center of the memorial chamber.

Inscribed on its walls are the words of Thomas Jefferson, including a passage taken directly for the Declaration of Independence.
