District of Columbia War Memorial
District of Columbia War Memorial - Washington D.C.
The open-air District of Columbia War Memorial of Washington D.C. rises 47 feet and is comprised mostly of Vermont marble. Located in West Potomac Park, the memorial was completed in 1931 and restored in 2010. Inscribed alphabetically around the 4-foot-tall marble base - with no distinction of race, rank, or gender - are the names of the 499 Washingtonians who gave their lives in service during the Great War.
